As Ludwig Mies van der Rohe said: Less is more! A masterpiece of reduction. Here are a few words from Aarnio (the designer of this chair), on how he came up with the idea : “After I had made the Ball Chair I wanted to have the light inside it and so I had the idea of a transparent ball where light comes from all directions. The only suitable material is acrylic which is heated and blown into shape like a soap bubble. Since I knew that the dome-shaped skylights are made in this way I contacted the manufacturer and asked if it would be technically possible to blow a bubble that is bigger than a hemisphere. The answer was yes. I had a steel ring made, the bubble was blown and cushions were added and the chair was ready. And again the name was obvious: BUBBLE.“
I’m pretty sure that you saw this chiar before in a music video, advertising or in a Fashion magazine. Based on the idea of the Ball Chair the Bubble Chair is a reduction of this design.
Like the Ball Chair the Bubble Chair also impresses the user by the special accoustic. The Bubble Chair swallows the sounds and you feel isolated inside in a pleasant way, even when you are in a crowded place. At the EXPO 2000 in Hannover eleven Bubble Chairs were installed in the Cycle Bowl "Blue Box" of the Grüne Punkt Deutschland Pavillion as small, individual information spaces whithin the library.

Transparent Ball Chair or Bubble Chair
Twinni Wardrobe New Furniture
Innovatively developed by Austrian based designers Heinz Glatzl and Joachim Mayr (M&G Interior Founders), ‘Twinni’ is a minimalist wardrobe with a simple framework to implement its shape.
Cheerfully colored to bring an excitement to your home, it turns out that ‘Twinni’ could also be brought to play as a matt-lacquered MDF (medium density fiberboard) sitting counter with a large storage space capacity.
Orca Chaise by Ricardo Barddal
The “flat lock”stitchings on it resembles real diving and surfing clothes and gives a beautiful final touch. It’s available on a variety of colors, but on these shades of blue, the sensation of relaxing on it seems like you are still embraced by the sea, after your diving, kite or surfing session. The rug and the side table on the picture are also works from Barddal. The rug is called “Neo” and the table is “Bamboo”, as it’s top is made on this material.
Recently recognized as an innovative designer from south region of Brazil, Ricardo Barddal presents pieces like the Orca Chaise: confortable, playful, unexpectable. Constructed over a glass fiber base and polyurethane foam, it’s dressed up on a 2 milimeters cover of neoprene.

New Furniture : “Dark Side of the Moon”
Inspired by the Pink Floyd Album “The Dark Side of the Moon,” the Pink Floyd chair by Argentine designer Candela Mosse is a stylish chair/ lounge that complementing the decor of contemporary apartments seems to stretch the continuity of the album. A wild rendering of a chair that looks like it would be strangely comfortable while listening to music, designer Candela Mosse’s the Pink Floyd Chair is meant to serve as a strong contemporary New Furniture design accent for a relaxing space.
Finished with fiberglass to accentuate the modernity of the chair’s New Furniture design, the chair definitely radiates a sweeping, dynamic movement which can be very interesting for lounge spaces or in living rooms for those of us who love to put together house parties.
Devised as a project for an industrial design class New Furniture at Universidad de Buenos Aires, the modern seating creates a relaxing environment by allowing different sitting or lying postures to the users. Finished with fiberglass, which allows an appropriate shape to support the human body comfortably, the Pink Floyd chair presents a closed curve that does not force the user to choose a particular seating position and also exudes a feeling of movement. Although it was developed as a project for a class at the Universidad Buenos Aires, I have a funny feeling that there are more Pink Floyd fans out there that would appreciate both the homage to their music as well as the quality of the Pink Floyd Chair’s New Furniture design.

Modern Bedroom Furniture
Many modern bedrooms tend to go with a high contrast color scheme. This often manifests itself in lightly colored (but often monotone) walls and dark wood or black furniture. Sleek black platform beds with pure white sheets, for example, are visually stunning and dramatic. But just because these furnishings are subtly designed does not mean that their presence is subtle.
In fact, modern bedroom furniture is often placed very prominently in a modern bedroom to give the décor some extra pop. Accessories like pillows and lamps should complement your platform beds and other furnishings, but they shouldn’t overwhelm the room. Remember, for a modern bedroom, simple is better. Perhaps embellish your contemporary bed with a single red throw pillow, or put a sleek silver lamp on your nightstand. With a little creativity and a less-is-more mentality, you will be well on your way to having a sophisticated and elegant modern bedroom.
The term “modern bedroom” does not refer to the physical “age” of the room itself. Rather, a “modern bedroom” is one decorated in a manner that parallels modern design values. Generally, this means that for your furnishings to be considered modern bedroom furniture, they have to be indicative of a characteristically modern minimalist aesthetic. To put it simply: For a modern bedroom, less is more. To achieve a truly modern look, you will first need to de-clutter your bedroom.
Get rid of all those unnecessary trinkets and furnishings that take up space in your room. Your goal is to have a room that is very organized, and delineated by simple straight lines. To that end, you will also want to lose any round, flowery, ornate antique furniture in exchange for some sleek, streamlined, and stylish modern bedroom furniture.

Contemporary Kids Bedroom Design
The wicked folks from Mariani came up with a very interesting set of contemporary design ideas for your kid’s bedroom (no matter the age).
Comfortable, clean, healthy and highly functional, the main concept behind these Mariani bedrooms is that they offer vivid colors and natural light that helps your child feel the whole ambiance of the room. Highly modern, yet still charming to please a child, they all stand as inspiration for those tough times when you have to create the perfect place for your little one.
